eric and i love to light the fireplace. the temp drops below 50 degrees, and i'm gunning for a fire. lil fuzz loves to lounge by it, as do the cats. lighting fires involves firewood (we chop our own... don't believe in buying firewood), and firewood involves lumberjack shirts. it was time i dressed the part. i used the archer pattern again, and the remnants from making mom's long-sleeve flannel, but unfortunately i didn't have enough to make sleeves. so, a sleeveless lumberjack it was. i cut the pockets and button placket on the bias like with mom's shirt
and did an awesome job lining up the plaid on one side seam
but not the other. dangit! oh well.
here's a pic of the colored threads i was talking about in my last post. see how each color of the plaid is a thread? love these vintage flannels!
i generally like the top. my only beef with it is that the waist is a bit wide but the lower hem is a bit snug. i had taken the sides in by 5/8" and even more by the armpits because the armhole kept gaping open. i'll make the appropriate changes on my next one.
and here's the back view. there's a pleat in the center back to keep things looser (although i was a bit aggressive in taking the sides in...) i also took in the back armholes, to make it slightly racerback.
i wore the top today. here's me grabbing lunch with eric. i was having soupy noodles and got a bit toasty.
seeing as it was 40 degrees today, i wore the top under a grey wool cardigan.and now i'm writing this in front of a roasting fireplace!
i recently made lemon poppyseed muffins for quick breakfasts. they were delicious. i forgot how easy muffins are to make.
eric loves peanut butter, so i also made chocolate cookies with a pb filling. omg they were so good!
the filling!
i caught the cutest pic last week involving eric and lil fuzz. fuzzy smelled eric's salad and insisted on joining in on the feasting. eric is incredibly generous. "one for you, one for me"
